Farewell & May Love Bring Us Together Again

Well, all my 'goodbyes' have been said... all the hugs and wishes given, all the thanks and handshakes received, all the smiles and laughter faded, all the tears wiped away and all the memories locked inside my heart. To give, to receive, to hold onto, to let go - all these have come and gone. And now, all that's left is this lonely soul... hoping to receive some form of encouragement, a glimmer of hope, a spark of joy given to birth from a tiny shed of a tear filled with gratitude or a tiny speck of love - whichever that will never cease to lift this empty soul.

In a few hours' time, as the clock ticks and the nightly shadows slowly ebb away... I extend my forlorn hands to grant you this wish - that you each do your best, not try... that you open your eyes to the reality set before you, not close your eyes and dream... that you go forth and conquer this battle and stake your claim in this war, not step back, retreat and surrender to your fears.

My dear friends, I wish you well. Now, make me proud. More importantly, make yourselves proud. I'm with you, near or far, seen or unseen, heard or unheard... you are always remembered and will always be loved.

Oh wow *wipes away a tear* That is seriously deep. To be honest, I think the world need more teachers like you.

Just promise you wont grow bored and cynical with age 'cause that'd just about break my heart.

Aboiut your previous comment, I can't remember where I got your profile from, maybe a friend of a friend of a blogger of a follower...something along those lines

Hey Punk Chopsticks. Nice to hear from you again! :)

Thanks for the reminder in the middle. I HAVE grown cynical about the current state of affairs in our educational system and how ridiculous it's becoming. I mean, have you seen the revised literature components for Forms 1 through 5? OMG! I nearly fainted, choked and died. To move from Shakespeare, Frost and Dahl to (wait... let me go and check...) ah yes, Latiff Mohidin, H.D. Carbery and Frank Brennan? I mean, no offense but WHO? Argh!

We are going backwards when the rest of the world are going forward. It kills me. How can I teach something so ridiculously mismatched with passion? I ask myself that sometimes but have no fear, I will always love teaching as long as my students appreciate me.

I have however, grown seriously cynical about love. Ah... but that's another story...

Looking at these pictures make me smile so wide :D For some reason, I love reading your blog. Although it gets a little dark sometimes. Which is not my thing, but I still keep coming back. :]

P.S. Just a wild guess, but I'm gonna have to say she got here through me. ...Somehow.

Grrr....now that you've brought it up, yeah! Lol I remember being so pissed this year when I found out that they were switching the syllabus. GOD! how could they get rid of Shakespeare for gods sake.

I've got a book of his sonnets and plays at home, so the damage in my case is pretty minimal, but it just...sucks, you know?

Anyway, chin up =) 'Bout love and school n all that. Btw, I got your blog from resha's page (now I remember!)

Resha: Thanks for being such an ardent fan of my blog. Well, I guess as you grow older and you experience so much more of both the good and bad this world has to offer, your thoughts do tend to get a bit dark.

Hard as it may be, I'll try to keep the light shining and keep the dark parts locked away. ;)

Punk Chopsticks: Should I just call you 'Punk'? Maybe 'Punky'? How about 'Choppy? Sorry, I feel a tiny bit of laziness creeping in when I have type our your pseudonym. Haha. It's a cool one though. Absolutely love it! =)

Yeah, the revised literature component really sucks. Can you imagine how hard it is for me to stir interest in my students and make it fun for them? And all those years researching and collecting materials, pictures and videos for the previous literature component - now unusable. Sigh.

It's times like these when I really feel like leaving this stupid country! Grrr...

Lol I know exactly what you mean, especially when I just came to Malaysia. Funny thing is, the longer I stay here, the more I love Malaysia as a country (not for it's politics ick)

Maybe I'm just being an idealist but I honestly believe that my generation has a chance of turning things around. Meh, thats just me.

Btw, I notice that in your pictures the backgrounds don't exactly look like your conventional classroom, where do you teach?

Okay, I've come up with an easier way to address you - PC. Hah! How's that? :)

I love Malaysia. This is after all, the country I was born in and it's one of the reasons why I am who I am today. My two years in the States changed my view of our country somewhat but yeah, just tear down the politics and you'll find that our country is a wonderful place to be in.

Hate it or detest it, politics is inevitable in every aspect of our life, which is why it's so important to vote for the right people in power. Your time will come someday. I believe your generation CAN turn it around and I'm being idealistic with a dose of realism here. =)

I teach at tuition centers. I have my own center which I share with a silent partner (that's the one with green flooring) in Taman Eng Ann, Klang. I also freelance at two other centers, one in Taman Sentosa, Klang and the one where I met Resha at - Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam.

Whereabouts are you at?
